DETROIT URBAN CRAFT FAIR
Event Branding, Posters, Local Research, CollageThe Detroit Urban Craft Fair is an all women founded annual arts and crafts fair that runs every year around the first week of December. It is hosted at the iconic Masonic Temple, in Drill Hall, otherwise known for hosting women’s roller derby tournaments. For this set of tourism posters, I aimed to highlight the role of women crafters in the Motor City as well as the unique architecture of Drill Hall. Using the floor boards and scaffolding to create stitch patterns that connect the two together, while arrows guide the eye around the collages. This project started with research on the event which lead into handmade iterations playing with image, tape, paint, and thread. I then took these ideas and tranformed them into a digitalized version, keeping the handmade aspects in tact.
