SPACE150 V51

Branding, Web Design, Campaign, AI.

As part of my summer internship working at space150, the intern team was tasked with creating the 51st  ‘version’ ; a company wide identity rebrand that occurs every 150 days. An ode to Area 51, V51 is where space150 tech meets human curiosity to prove the existence of alien life. Inspired by the government whistle-blowers and the over-saturation of low quality images, we sought out to use AI and create a platform where images can be sharpened and conspiracys can be proved.

Using the power of midjourney, we built a tool called UFOUND that lived within the company website and allowed any user to upload a photo and “reveal” the ufo within it, collecting each result for our personal database. In addition, as the sole designer on the team I created a branding system that was both high tech, and lo-fi retro leaning into the blurry images and ufo aesthetic. A series of mysterious bill posters, with the phrase “to see is to believe” were designed and wheatpasted all throughout Minneapolis with QR codes that lead to our UFOUND system. As well as disposable cameras to capture the unknown, stickers to decorate them, t-shirts using old newspaper clippings and a UFO shrapnel style business card for our CEO.
